WD-40 Repair Challenge: Farm Fix Edition

Our project began during our routine pre seeding checklist. We always start each morning by inspecting the machinery to ensure that everything is running and operating smoothly to ensure a productive and efficient day.

During the routine check, we noticed one of the operating Parallelogram Seeding units that supply the seed into the ground was jammed and not moving freely. If the Parallelogram seeding unit can't move with the contours of the ground, it affects how the machine digs and plants the seeds properly which long term will effect the way the seed grows and in many cases wont. This is a crucial part of everyday seeding as it can be the difference between seed planted correctly and incorrectly which could effect the whole season.

To fix it, we had two options: dismantle the entire assembly, which is a massive and time consuming job with the weather not on our side to finished the paddock that day, or give WD-40 a go which would free up the moving assembly and ensure we could get back out in the paddock and finish the job.

A few sprays with WD-40 around the moving parts, a quick test, and the Parallelogram seeding unit was moving freely again. A fast, yet effective fix, that got us straight back into the paddock.
