The Ol’ Yella- back on the road project

I love vehicles, especially those with sentimental value. I am getting a collection and my favourites are the ones I learnt to drive in. After using WD-40 to get the odometer working again on my grandfathers Patrol Ute (970,000km), when I needed to free up the spare wheel winch on dads old hilux, I knew where to go. The end goal is to get the Ol’ Yella back on the road after finally securing it back off my cousin. A bit of mechanical, electrical, driveline and interior work so far, now to work on the final touches of aesthetics and tyres. The WD-40 meant that I was able to get the spare back under the tray, where it was meant to be, and clear a bit of space for a period correct camping set up- swag and esky. The spare wheel winch would not move, to get to the spare, the entire winch had to be removed in the past, but, bit of determination after being told it could not be done, but of a spray of the rattle can, and it is working again. Hopefully won’t need the spare, but if I do, I know it’ll drop.
