Old Glasshouse Restored!

Recently we picked up the old glasshouse off marketplace.
It was certainly worse for wear with many broken glass panels and pieces missing. But was was a great score and full of potential.
Although the frame is aluminium, we couldn’t have dismantled it without WD-40 -Loosening the old seized up bolts was a breeze, removing the hassle of angled grinding them and replacing them at $4 a bolt; saving us hundreds.
WD-40 made for a sensational glass cleaner as the built-on scum was decades thick. We replaced broken glass and cleaned every panel. WD-40 came in handy for all the stuck bits - the louvre windows and for smooth rolling of the door. We removed the handle off an old watering can to use as an ornate door handle.
We built raised brick garden beds as the new foundation to create a grander height and keep the windows off from the ground. After extending the door length and giving it a good scrub we gave it a detailed lick of paint to tie the whole look together and add a bit of charm. Now ready for spring planting and to last decades to come!
